Course Description: Cultivating authentic student voice is foundational to establishing a school environment grounded in emotional safety, belonging, and intrinsic academic drive. Elevating student voice extends beyond simply giving learners a platform to speak; it requires intentionally designing an overarching culture where students are encouraged to express individuality, respectfully challenge existing ideas, and meaningfully contribute to their learning community. When educators build systems that actively honor student perspectives and invite collaborative reflection, students feel genuinely respected and valued.
This professional development course equips K–12 educators with practical frameworks, communication tools, and advocacy strategies to foster student agency within their classrooms and broader school environments. Through actionable strategies, reflective discussions, and project-based workflows, participants will explore how to help students articulate personal values, leverage digital tools responsibly, and exercise self-advocacy. By completing this course, teachers will be prepared to implement a student-centered environment that strengthens communication, deepens empathy, and empowers learners to make a lasting, positive impact on their school community.

Course Description: This course is designed primarily for K-12 classroom teachers who teach or support English Language Learners (ELLs) and Multilingual Learners (MLLs) in general education settings. The course focuses on practical, classroom-ready strategies that help teachers recognize students’ strengths and instructional needs, identify academic and linguistic demands, and provide meaningful access to grade-level content without lowering learning expectations.
Participants seeking graduate credit complete the same five-topic coursework and assignments, along with an ongoing Action Research Tracker. They identify a question related to supporting multilingual learners, document a strategy they try in practice, record observations and learning, and identify next steps. The graduate-credit requirement concludes with a 2-3 page final reflection connecting the action research experience to course concepts, resources, and the participant’s instructional practice.

Course Description: This online professional development course explores the powerful relationship between educator actions and student well-being through a guided study of Teacher Believed in Me: The Science and Heart of Making a Difference in Students' Positive Well-Being by authors David K. Hatch & Muriel Summers.
Participants will examine narratives, research, and practical strategies that demonstrate how teachers’ beliefs, relationships, and classroom practices significantly influence students' emotional well-being, engagement, and academic success. Through reading, reflection, discussion, and application activities, educators will analyze their own practices and identify actionable strategies that foster belonging, leadership, agency, and positive classroom culture.

Course Description: Today’s educators face a distinct challenge in student engagement: rates of chronic absenteeism remain elevated, and middle and high school students increasingly report feeling disconnected from their day-to-day coursework. The constant pull of digital distractions and social media makes sustaining deep focus an uphill battle. Compounding this dynamic is the rapid emergence of generative AI, which provides students with immediate workarounds to bypass critical thinking entirely.
To address this shift, the solution isn't simply teaching students how to operate software or use specific AI apps. Instead, the focus must shift toward building foundational AI Literacy—using technology as a lens to sharpen timeless cognitive skills like analyzing, questioning, and evaluating information. By designing learning environments that prioritize active reasoning over passive consumption, educators can ensure that authentic intellectual effort remains at the heart of the learning process.

Course Description: Social and emotional learning (SEL) is an essential, integrative component of modern K–12 education and human development. Beyond basic skill instruction, SEL provides the foundation through which students and educators cultivate self-awareness, manage complex emotions, establish supportive relationships, and make responsible decisions grounded in empathy. When intentionally embedded into classroom practices, SEL advances educational equity and academic excellence by fostering trusting learning environments, meaningful family-community partnerships, and inclusive school cultures.
This professional development course equips educators with practical strategies, SEL routines, and evidence-based frameworks to build supportive classroom climates and strengthen student-teacher relationships. Through active learning strategies, case studies, and reflective exercises, participants will explore how daily check-ins, morning meetings, brain breaks, mindfulness, and growth mindset practices elevate student engagement and well-being. By the end of the course, educators will design an actionable SEL implementation roadmap—including diagnostic surveys and evidence-based program evaluations—to create thriving, equitable learning communities.
By completing this course, teachers will be prepared to implement a student-centered environment that strengthens communication, deepens empathy, and empowers learners to make a lasting, positive impact on their school community.

Course Description: This course develops the knowledge, skills, and self-awareness educators need to lead
effectively within their classrooms, schools, and professional communities. The course
examines teacher leadership as influence rather than position and guides educators through a
developmental progression from interpersonal and leadership self-awareness to relational
intelligence, effective communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and the ethical
use of power and influence.
Participants examine how their personal leadership tendencies, values, beliefs, and behaviors
affect others; develop strategies for building trust, connection, and belonging; practice
navigating conflict and difficult conversations; and explore how power, voice, and
decision-making shape collaborative leadership. Through applied activities, authentic
school-based scenarios, reflection, and collaborative problem-solving, participants develop a
personal leadership action plan designed to strengthen their influence and create meaningful
impact within their educational communities.
